IGUANA FARM VISIT AND WATERFALL HIKE
Description: This tour is given by a local of Puerto Viejo, and begins with a visit to the Iguana Farm in Hone Creek. Fred will then take you on a hike to two different waterfalls in Volio, where you can swim and enjoy fresh fruit. The hike is short and very easy and can be done in flip flops. This is a flexible tour, because after you are done hiking Fred will give you the option of doing another cultural tour or taking you to a Caribbean restaurant.
Includes: Transportation to and from C & J Cabinas, refreshments and fruit
What to bring: Swimsuits if you would like to swim in the waterfalls, extra cash if you would like Fred to take you somewhere after your tour

WATERFALL HIKE AND SUSTAINABLE FARM VISIT
Description: This tour is given by the son of a local sustainable farm owner. You will begin in Puerto Viejo and hike to two different waterfalls in Volio. The hike to these waterfalls gives you the opportunity to view many Costa Rican bird species as well as monkeys. After you spend some time at the waterfalls relaxing and swimming, you will continue hiking until you reach La Finca Integral Didactica Loroco Talamanca, a sustainable farm in BriBri. You will tour the farm and be given information on the process of growing organic plants and the natural lake that is located on the farm. You will be able to taste the fruits and vegetables that are growing on the farm and speak to the owner, Gonzalo Morales. You will then be transported back to the center of Puerto Viejo.
What to bring: Good walking shoes, sunscreen, bathing suit, water, snacks

CAHUITA SNORKELING AND RAINFOREST HIKE
Description: Parque Nacional Cahuita has the largest system of Coral Reefs in Costa Rica, including 6 species of coral, a wide range of colorful tropical fishes and the occasional encounter of a harmless reef shark or sting ray. This beach has a horse shoe shape, with the entrance of the park at one end and beautiful Punta Cahuita at the other end. We start with a scenic 20 minute boat ride to have two snorkeling sessions. Then we get dropped off at the Punta to enjoy a delicious fruit and snacks break at the beach followed by a 1 hour guided hike in this wonderful coastal forest: monkeys, sloths, birds, poison dart frogs, iguanas and other interesting encounters are common.
Itinerary:
7:00 AM – Pick up time depending on location starting in Manzanillo.
7:30 AM - Drive to Cahuita with interesting information in route.
8:00 AM - Arrival at the park entrance and safety briefing.
8:30 AM - Snorkeling in two locations.
9:30 AM - Fruit and snacks break at Punta Cahuita and proceed to hike.
11:00 AM - Arrive back to the van, take a small break and drive back.
12:00 Noon - Arrive in time to shower before lunch on your own.
What to bring: Swim suit on, sunscreen, hat, long sleeve shirt/rash guard to cover your back, camera (ideally water proof), water bottle, change of clothes, towel, comfortable walking shoes, insect repellent, binoculars, raincoat, and a bit of cash.

GUIDED BIKE RIDES:
PUERTO VIEJO TO MANZANILLO
Description: Spend a day ambling up the coast with a lovable guide. Learn about the history of the Afro-Caribbeans along the coast and current issues they face today, stop at various beaches and end with a refreshing drink at the famous Maxi’s bar in Manzanillo. Bike leisurely from Old Harbour to Manzanillo. Learn some history and what’s going on today with sustainable (and not so sustainable) development along the coast. Stop by the surfer’s beach, learn about the “Blue Flag” program; enjoy a dip at Punta Uva, & sip an ice cold beer at Maxi’s when you reach Manzanillo.

PUERTO VIEJO TO KEKOLDI AND BRIBRI
Description: Learn about the Indigenous culture, stop by the iguana project in Kèköldi Indigenous reserve, pass by the recycling center and get your workout going up the mountain to Talamanca’s political seat in the town of BriBri. Enjoy an organic lunch when you reach your destination. You want a work out, this is it! Start in Old Harbour. Warm up on your way to the iguana farm at Kèköldi Indigenous Reserve, and then work those quads up the mountain to the town of BriBri. If you have some energy left, visit a traditional organic farm and shop for indigenous handicrafts.

PUERTO VIEJO TO CAHUITA NATIONAL PARK
Description: Feel the wind in your hair as you take to the road on this 15 km ride from Old Harbour to Cahuita. Spot some monkeys as you take a ride through the park and relax with an organic lunch after your ride.

PUNTA UVA NIGHT HIKE
Description: Spend a few hours enjoying the unusual sights, sounds and sensations of a night walk through the jungle near Punta Uva.

TRANSCONTINENTAL HIKE
Description: Hike from one side of the country to the other, camping along the way in the Talamancan Mountains. If you’re crazy enough to try this 70 km trek, you’ll never forget it. Experience an amazing trek through pristine rainforest and cloud forest, crossing the continental divide in the Talamanca Mountain Range with a Cabecar native experienced guide from Coroma, Talamanca. The journey takes you from Ujarrás on the Pacific slope of the Cordillera de Talamanca, to peaks as high as 2700 m, and down the Caribbean slope through wonderful landscapes of dense forests. This trek is both a physical and mental challenge, but also an unforgettable experience and a very unique way to discover the natural wonders and wildlife of Costa Rica. Extreme fitness required.
